The Longest Thread

Minimum $250 - NASHVILLE, TN

In the summer of 2013, post-graduation, desperately trying to find a job in marketing, I found a small gold coin (valued at around $60) on the streets near Izmir airport in Turkey. I kept the gold coin for a couple of months until I decided to get on a bus to Buldan- a Turkish town renowned for its textiles. I bought 10 towels and thought if I could sell those towels, I could prove myself to companies that I had the skills for a career in marketing. It is safe to say that I stopped looking for a job 3 months after I founded The Longest Thread. Fast forward 8 years, The Longest Thread has evolved into a minimalistic, functional brand that collaborates with family-run textile mills and independent handweavers in rural Turkey. Although we now sell thousands of towels each year, we remain true to our heritage. Every towel goes through my own hands to ensure quality and longevity before it is sent to its new owner. While we play our part each day to keep the traditional craft alive, we deeply care about our contribution to a positive future for both the planet and people. We are becoming a Climate Neutral company in 2021, and increasing our efforts to shatter stereotypes and stigmas about mental health as well as supporting organizations that provide crisis support 24/7. Yet we always strive to do more. While most of our towels are currently woven on automatic looms, our goal for the long term is to collaborate more with handweavers around the world to create a completely hand-woven, zero electricity towel selection to reduce our carbon emissions.
